It’s April Fools Day and we could all use a laugh. In fact, one of the most helpful things for me during this scary time has been the abundance of silliness and mischief circulating on social media–from people dressing up their pets to romances starting by drone communication!
Here are some e-books available in the NYPL collection that are sure to tickle your funny bone:
- Several Spongebob Squarepants e-books available by Erica Pass
- An abundance of joke books, from knock-knocks to riddles
- Magic trick books for those who prefer to be the fooler, rather than the fooled
- Many of the My Weird School series books by Dan Gutman
- And, of course, the incomparable master of silliness, Dav Pilkey
Then, make a treat that will tickle both your funny bone AND your taste buds by making “Worms in Dirt.” This is a classic–and so adaptable to using whatever you have in the house. For the mud/dirt, you can use anything chocolatey–ice cream, pudding, cake, crumble oreos, brownies, chocolate cereal–whatever you have and allows you to stay home, that’ll do!
If you can’t get hold of gummy worms easily, you could try MAKING them (waaaah?). Here’s a recipe from OneLittleProject.com that looks like it would at the very least be a blast to attempt.
