The New York Public Library announced today that all branches will be closed for the remainder of March in an effort to minimize the spread of the coronavirus. This, of course, majorly impacts the city’s access to the huge collection of books (and other resources). In my posts, I always try to link any book I recommend to its NYPL catalog page. From there, you can place a hold on the book to get a turn with it as soon as possible. I’m sad to see the city lose this access for a time, BUT…this is a perfect opportunity to discover the many (oft-forgotten) e-resources the library has to offer!

Many of us are trying to stay home as much as possible right now, so e-books are a great way to keep your reading appetite satisfied without even leaving the house. Just make sure to share whatever devices you use to e-read, otherwise chaos may ensue…

Spend some time exploring the NYPL’s website (www.nypl.org) and be sure to check out these resources in particular:

2020 award-winners available as e-books!

Popular kids’ titles in e-book format

TumbleBooks, TumbleBookCloud, TumbleBookCloud Junior and Bookflix

(While e-books in the collection are a finite resource and can only be checked out by a few at a time, TumbleBooks and Bookflix reads are available without limit!)

Even MORE free online tools for kids available through NYPL’s site…
